I have been painting and drawing ever since I can remember. I started out taking classes here and there throughout my childhood and young adulthood, pursuing my passion a little at a time. I had a short career as a fourth grade classroom teacher and then decided to go to art school – what I had originally wanted to do but was too terrified to actually attempt.

I began my studies at the University of Maryland, then transferred to The New England School of Art and Design and finally ended up at Mass College of Art in Boston. I have always been drawn to pattern and the vibrancy of color and although I was being trained to paint portraits, landscape, and still life compositions, intricate patterns would invariably show up in my work.

My first foray into decorative furniture painting involved a small stool for my nephew Peter. I discovered that I thoroughly enjoyed applying paint to an object rather than a canvas and was thrilled to find I was creating something useful. Thus, my absolute love of creating functional art was born! What followed was an obsession to layer paint and pattern on chairs, tables, buffets, bowls, trays, lazy susans, cabinets, floor cloths, boxes, lamps and lampshades, etc…in other words, on any paintable surface. I am especially attracted to the process of reclaiming a discarded piece of furniture to transform it into a treasured one-of-a-kind artful creation.
I have been decoratively painting furniture and found objects for about three decades. My artwork can be found throughout my home and the homes of friends, family, and clients. The skill of combining various patterns and colors to create a cohesive and pleasing piece is something that I find both challenging and exhilarating.

It’s my desire and pleasure to craft art that puts a smile on peoples’ faces, is used day-in, day-out to beautify homes, and enhances the quality of the lives of all lovers of art!
